I have a studio projects c1 and a nady scm 950. Over the past couple of years i've had a 3 dynamic mics(not shure sm58's), a superlux condenser, a behringer b-1, a nady scm-1000, and a small diaphram condenser. I just kept sending everything back everytime because i thought i was upgrading but the difference was little to none. When i got a new soundcard, m-audio audiophile 2496, everything sounded better. Now i wonder what all those other mics sounded like. Anyway, i bought the spc1 after i bought the soundcard and i was blown away for about 4-5 months. Now i realize that it's just a hyped mic. I went back and tried my nady scm 950 with the new soundcard and it sounded better than the c1. Warm with a prevelant but tame high end that's sweet. I've tried a adk-a51 and it sounded better than the nady. I want to get that mic and a m-audio dmp3. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you've already made your plans ... so go with it and see how it works for you. I would disagree on the claim that the C1 is "just a hyped mic" but if you are finding yourself EQ-ing the highs out all the time then you damn sure need to get something that sounds different. Good luck!
