I use FL Studio 4.1 and everytime I make a beat, my kick gets deadened by the bass, because they share the same frequency. I don't know how to get around this, because even if I switch basses, it still does it.

How can I get that clean crisp kick drum seperate from my bassline?

mess with eqs until you have the right balance between the two... you can try raising higher frequencies either on the bass or on the kick, until you clearly hear both. i'd rather sacrifice the bass to the kick's profit. try using compressors also.

i never really had that problem much, so i'm not very sure what you should do exactly, but try it out, you never know.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

I dunno if this will help cuz I dont know what kinda bass or kick you are using. I had that problem with one of my tracks, the bass was just like a kick, or hit so to speak. I just deleted part of the bass line out where ever the kick would come in. I didnt want to do it that way at first, but it sounded tight when i played back. Im sure someone here probably has better advice, but thats just an idea.......pm

If EQing isnt enuff

Look into sidechaining a compressor. Ive never tried it but from what i understand u can set up the kick to trigger the compressor to reduce to bass with each hit.

Very good Ideal right here. if you can set that up in FL I would go for it.
