Production Dates for Tape

Hello all,

I've searched for over an hour and couldn't find an answer so, here goes!

BASF by Emtec manufacturing dates. Is it located anywhere on the reel, box or whatever? Attached is a pic of the reel label for 2" SM900 tape. Does this code reveal the desired info? If not, is there any way to find out like sending the label contents to the manufacturer? (not that I'd really go that far) ;)

I personally don't know. I own a couple reels of EMTEC 1/2" SM911 and the label on the box spine looks pretty detailed... much like the one you have in your picture. I've never spent much time looking at it though.

Despite that, why are you looking for this information? Do you have any specific question about this tape? Give us a try :)
 
No specific questions. Someone asked me, that's all. I was sure it was on the label but then I looked... oh well.

You can't tell by the numbers on a BASF/EMTEC tape. You can get in the ballpark though.

SM900 started production in 1995, but it wasn't known as EMTEC until 1997. Before that it was BASF. SM900 was made by EMTEC until 2003, but only had BASF as part of the logo through 2001. So you can guess late 90's through 2001 for what you have

If you had a box or reel that said EMTEC with no BASF on the label then it would be 2002 – 2003. If just BASF on the label it would be among the earliest 1995 –1997 batches.
