I have a 424 that is about 3 years old. I record on it and the send it to Cakewalk on my computer. I am having a few probs though. First off, channel one is not taking any input. If I record on another channel and the bounce it to channel 1 the channel works fine. I just can't record anything directly onto channel 1.
Also, when I turn on the 4-track, ALL the LED's on the screen light up and the play/stop/FF/rewind/record buttons do not work. I have to turn it off and then on again to stop,rewind,play, record, etc. There is also a slight "hum" coming from the machine into my speakers. This hum is not on the tape, its coming from the machine.
Sometimes when I turn it on, the hum is gone and the LED's and buttons work fine but more often than not it is not working.
I love the machine and I'd hate to junk it. I'm better than average as far as working on stuff myself so if ANYBODY can help me out I would apperciate it!
