1. There is still latency after I lowered the buffers. I tried everything. I also have the newest drivers for the audiophile. What should I do?

2. How do I record a midi drum track into an audio track?

Sorry.... can't help you with #1 off hand.

Q2 - See "Getting into the Details" p.520.

I also noticed that in the audio setup for cubase vst, I only saw asio multimedia driver. aren't the audiophile asio drivers supposed to be included?

I am not familiar with the audiophile drivers, but you should have the option of at least three different asio drivers, one of which should be your audiophile driver. If you do not see it there then you may have not installed it properly.

Also, you say you lowered buffers but still have latency. Right next to the buffer size area in the ASIO control panel there should be a little box that is telling you exactly what your latency is with your current setup. If you could tell us that number, someone here with an audiophile card can tell you if that number is out of whack, or if indeed, that is the best you can expect.

Chris pointed you to the right place for convertine midi to audio. You need to rerout the signal through your midi device and back into cubase.

1) There will always be latency - you can get it lower though. Most people operate with a latency of 15 ms or less. I've got 12 (as far as I can remember) and it is not a large noticable problem.

2) to make a MIDI track an audio track I believe you have to go file>export>MIDI>to audio (?). I think this is right, but I haven't got round to doing it myself yet. This topic has been covered in this forum only a month or two ago so a search should turn up some answers. Caused a lot of issues with "Have you got a manual" too, so watch out......

I just recently upgraded from audiophile 2496 to Echo Layla using Cubase VST. IN the Asio Control panel you should have an option that says M-Audio (if I remember correctly). If not, you should try to Reset your Devices. I think you can find that under the Funtion or Option's menu. If that doesn't work...try uninstalling then reinstalling your drivers for the card.

As Neil pointed out, there will always be latency. The delay on mine makes the signal sound like it has a chorus effect on it :) Its not too bad!

a friend of mine helped me and I solved almost all of my problems.
Now I get pops when I open cubase. Even when I don't play the tracks. but if I minimize cubase then it disappears. its very annoying. Then when I activate a send effect thats not included with cubase like tc essentials, My speakers make a machine gun like sound and after 3 seconds the computer crashes. I tried uninstalling the direct x plugins and leaving the vst ones but still it doesn't work. What should I do?

It sounds to me like you have corrupted some files. Chasing that around is like looking for a needle in a haystack unless you're a geek. I'm not telling you to do this but if this were happening to me I'd start fresh, reformat my hard drive and then reinstall windows and all my programs. These days you can burn the files to cd that you want to save first so that makes it real easy. Good luck

The audio click may be caused by your graphics card. Go into your control panel and turn your graphics accelleration way down (or better all the way down).

The crashing with plug-in's sounds like free, or pirated software. There is no way to fix the problem if this is the case.

either what BM*k* said, or your computer simply can't handle the plug in... it's too heavy.. i got this problem with some 32 bit reverbs, even thinking of using it makes my computer crash...
