Problems with Alesis I/O 26

Just got the above firewire interface in the post today. Set it up, installed the latest drivers, etc etc. My computer recognises it in Cubase SE3, so I grab a bunch of mics and mic up my drum kit. So far so good.

Now, I try to set my levels. I've an LDC on the kick, two SDCs as overheads and a dynamic on the snare. The problem is, listening through the hea dphones and playing back through same, they all sound distorted as hell! But my levels are no way close to the red.

I'm trying to establish whether this is a problem with the interface or the drivers or what...it seems unlikely that every mic I own should immediately stop working. Your thoughts guys?
 
Did you tried changing the samplerate? A friend had the same problem running it at 192...
 
Hello first time here. Saw the IO 26 and fell in love with it but now im starting to wonder if i made the right choice. Im running Win7 64 bit with 4G DDR. The issue im having here is that after installing the driver, i can see the interface and all but in my Sound setting it does not show all the output options. As a result the sound only comes out thru the Headphones out. I have tried to rewire in the WDM setting but no result. When i plug my M-Audio firewire pro in, it shows me all the inputs and outputs in the sound setting. Any help will be much appreciated. Im totally desperate to make this thing work provided the potentials it has.
