I just recorded a track. three verses and now Im trying to bounce it down so that i can record the hooks and addlips. Is this a bouncing process or freezing process? I'm just trying to free up some space for the mixdown process

There's no such thing as freezing in Pro Tools.

I guess you're wanting to bounce to a stereo file, so that you can make the original tracks inactive, thus freeing up some processing power?

Assuming that's the case, I would recommend that you change the main output of your track to a bus, and route that bus to the input of a new stereo track in the project, just simply record arm it, and hit record.

This is called an internal layback.

Alternatively you could bounce the track to disk, then reimport the bounced file.

Yes, I'm afraid it's all done in real time. Go and make yourself a cuppa while it gets to work... :)
