Posted it in newbie forum already but i guess it fits here even better:
Hey guys, im new and bought new pieces of equipment for my band lately:
Tascam US-1641 Audio Ínterface
2x AKG Perception 170
Rode NT-1A
We want to get our first bits of recording done, but we have problems setting up the interface.
I do get audio on Cubase, it displays it in the green bar or how to call it, when i make noise it goes up, you know what i mean
But when i play it, i dont hear anything, neither if i export it to a .wav or whatever file. The file is some megabytes big always, but when i try to listen to it, theres no audio - displaying it in Audacity doesnt show audio aswell, and i tried listening when i just used PC speakers aswell.
First installed drivers for the Tascam, then Cubase 5 LE.
My OS is by the way Vista 32bit, running on a laptop.
So, what i currently have set up is the AKG Perception mics in XLR 1+2 with phantom power on and a dynamic micropone in XLR 5 (phantom power is supplied to 1-4 or 5-8).
Then i have headphones plugged into Line Out 1 on the back of the interface.
In Cubase i have of course selected the Tascam drivers.
In VST Connections i have Line Out 1 + 2 set as stereo output, but aswell tried 1 as mono because of my headphones (which is obv. only 1 cable)
Inputs are 1+2 Stereo for the AKGs and 5 Mono for the dynamic mic.
I tried all mono aswell.
It did work at the first try i did in total (only by exporting, with standard settings), but then, because the sound wasnt as good as i wanted it, i set it up after the guides there is.
So to conclude, Cubase receives audio - cant export/play/whatever it though.
Can anyone help?
Thank you!
