Problem with Sonar 6 and Delta 1010 soundcard

Hey,
I'm new to Sonar - it looks incredibly confusing. I can't seem to get any sound when using instruments like EZdrummer and session drummer 2. Sound shows up on my master in sonar and my monitor in the Delta config, so I can't figure out why I'm not hearing it.
Let me know if you can help,
Hart

You can help yourself by reading the manuals, both for Sonar 6 and the Delta 1010.

No one is born with a knowledge of either one - you need to acquire it and the best way is to read the manual.

Once you read the manuals, feel free to come back and post specific questions about finer points that have you confused. Just to say 'I can't seem to get any sound' is way too general and could have four dozen causes and twice as many possible solutions.

I'm confused as to which output driver I should be using in sonar. The ones that show sound are the monitor and the Delta 1010 1/2 in the Delta config, but I've tried setting all of these in sonar and I still don't hear anything. I've managed to record some of EZdrummer in adobe audition while it's playing in Sonar (recording straight from the monitor in the Delta) but I'm hoping that's not the only way I can do this.

The Delta 1010 should be the only soundcard in your system. If, as you imply, you still have the stock soundcard active at least disable it if you don't want to remove it.

EZ Drummer is a VSTi plugin. It's output doesn't need to be recorded until the final mixdown. If you don't understand why it doesn't make sense to say that you 'managed to record some of EZ Drummer in Adobe Audition...' you need to, as I mentioned before, read the manual.

You have obviously invested a fair bit of money in your software, hardware and computer. Now it's up to you to learn how to use it all. As I said, if you have a question about something that's above the 'it's just not working' level, post it and someone here will help. Until then, read the Sonar manual, the Delta 1010 manual and the EZ Drummer manual and between the three of them you should be able to make some headway. This is fairly simple stuff, and just because it 'looks confusing' is no reason to assume that it's insurmountable.

The 1010 is the only soundcard in my computer. I know what a VSTi plugin is. I'm not hearing any sound when I click on the actual drums in EZdrummer, but I know that there is sound being produced because I see it on the monitor. I mentioned how I recorded it to show this. As far as I know, one should be able to hear the rhythms as it is being chosen - not just at the "final mixdown." Also, I am only using Sonar for EZdrummer, not as my main editing platform. I don't have a manual for Sonar. If you don't want to help, then I don't expect you will. Don't write me off as an idiot.

The only copies of Sonar that don't come with manuals are bootleg copies.

I didn't want to accuse you of being a crook until I was sure, but now I am sure. Go back to the pirate board that you downloaded the warez version of Sonar from and ask them your questions.

Asking idiot questions will make anyone here believe that you are an idiot --- and you are quite right that I'm done trying to help you understand what's wrong with your cracked software.

Some people can't afford $600 dollar software.

Thanks,

And some people think that they're so important that not being able to afford the software entitles them to steal it.

ahh you asshole, then dont use it if you can't afford it.

use something cheaper then. it doesnt work cause you a pirating loser. of course none of the outputs work, somone messed up the cakewalk files, then uploaded it on to P2P servers all over the world so crooks like you could download it illegally....

... and then they laugh their asses off because you can't use it anyway!!

And yet you have it anyway.

Oh well. Based on your questions, you wont be able to figure it out, will get bored and do something else.

Stealing is stealing no matter how you look at it. Why download the illegal cracked version, when you can just run into guitar center, steal the real version and have yourself a manual & cd in your hand?? It's the same thing ... If you can't afford it, like everyone said, don't use it. I don't go stealing SSL consoles because I can't afford it lol.

The ironic thing is that there are FREE programs that do the same thing  FREE. Zero Money. Zilch. Nada. Yet this joker steals, and cant figure anything out.
