Hello there !

I have recently purchased a second-hand Fostex X-26 multitracker. I had some problems with it I managed to solve. But still... I have this remaining one... : when I record on a tape that already contains sound, and I listen to what I've recorded, I can hear both what was previsously on the tape and what I've just done.
Is that due to bad recording-head ?

Thank you very much,

Nico

Make sure the erase head isn't dirty. Is it all four tracks that do this, or just one?

It's all 4 tracks that do this ...
What's the best option to clean the erase head ?

Thanks.

99% isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swabs. Do the record/play head and capstan (but not the pinch roller) while you're at it. Be sure they dry thoroughly before using.
