Hii, Im using audacity to record with a behringer xenyx 502 and a behringer uca200, i can record a single track of guitar just fine, when i want to record vocals and i want to have the already recorded guitar playing through my headphones, but i don't want the vocals playing through the headphone while im singing. Its almost as if i cant get one without the other, and when i do try and record vocals, there's always a delay coming through my headphones and its recorded the delay. How can i do this?

Audacity is a nice free audio editor but it's not really designed to be a proper multitrack recording program. If I were you I'd put my time and effort into learning some other software rather than trying to make Audacity work. For that matter the UCA200 isn't meant for this kind of thing either, but with a mixer with more features you could do it.

Are you recording the guitar and vocal to one stereo track or two separate mono tracks? Are you panning the guitar and vocal fully opposite of each other?

Hi Jaskle,
You need to be running the RCA line outs of the UCA 202 into the "tape/cd" returns on the mixer and then plugging headphones into the mixer.

There are two buttons. Tape to mix and Tape to ctrl. You need to work out which selection does what you need and this will change depending upon what you are doing!

BEWARE! certain combinations will result in feedback. No harm will come to the equipment but you'll not hear properly for a bit.

Audacity? Agreed, not the best choice. Look up MAGIX Samplitude Silver. Totally free and about as simple as a such software gets, but there are lots of free softwares out there, they will all do what you want but they all demand study.

The 202 is a handy box but again, not really designed for this sort of work (fine for dubbing tapes to PCs!) . You will struggle with the delay, called "latency", until you get a decent Audio Interface.

Meant to say! IF you get an AI do not get rid of the mixer. A wee mixer is just about THE most handy bit of kit the recording dude can have about the place.

Dave.
