Have you heard your voice recorded well? There is a big difference between what you hear in your head while you are singing and what is coming out of your mouth.

ding ding ding ding ding!!!!! No matter how shitty the mic (a condenser will almost always sound better for vocal recording than a dynamic), sound card (99% of the time you will want to replace the standard sound card that coems with your computer), and pre amp (I also use a Behr mixer with pre's for some things, but I am ashamed) you CAN get a decent recording. It is mostly up the singer, as the signal source, to deliver a stong, clear, good voice to record. Although I'd agree that clipping is also taking place according to the descriptions given.

i know how i sound like recorded. and for the most part it sounds normal how it should. but when i hit powerful/emotional/loud/high notes they seem stale, lifeless, as well as raspy and fuzzy which is not how i normally sound.

PS: avoid EQing to solve problems, that is a very frustrating road to go down.
After fixing what is most likely a cliping problem, experiment with mic placement to get the sounds you are after.

It's hard to diagnose 'raspy and fuzzy'. You need to tell us if you are distorting or not. Try some tests and see if the clip light is going on.

If I were you, I would first just listen directly through your mixer via the headphone out. Is that where the problem is? If not, listen via the computers headphone out. If that's not it, I would take my mixer and headphones down to the local music store and try out a condensor mic. For me and my voice, a sm58 sounds like crap. Same with a sm57 although a little better. It sounds blanketed/muffled and a little raspy compared to my condensor mic. I would definitely say an sm58 on my voice sounds lifeless.
