I am an occasional cakewalk 8 user so please excuse me if this is a dumb question.

I had to reformat my hard disk some time ago. In the process I lost some drivers and finally ended up installing a new sound card to get back up and running. It is a Muse XL card.

Of course I had to reinstall everything else including Cakewalk.

Everything seems to work fine with cakewalk except there is one problem that has me baffled.

When I record audio while listening to the midi tracks, all of the the midi sound is recorded onto the audio track.

This didn't happen before, and I am not sure whether it is a result of the sound card or whether there is something that I have not configured right.

Thanks in advance.

It is probably the result of an incorrect input setting in the Mixer Applet.

Launch the Windows Mixer (or your Sound Card's mixer if it came with one). Navigate to the Recording Options. Make sure that the correct input is selected - most likely it should be Line In. If "What U Hear", or "Stereo Mix", or something similar is selected, that is your problem. Those settings will record all sounds passing through the sound card.
