Problem hooking up MIDI keyboard.

I'm trying to hook up my MIDI keyboard to my computer. It's a cheap Casio, but it has MIDI in and out. My soundcard does not have a MIDI interface, so I bought an adaptor to plug it into the Joystick Port. So right now, I have the MIDI out going from the keyboard into the Joystick port, but I'm not getting any response in Cubase.

Is there something I missed?

I was wonderin what adaptor you bought?
I also have a Game port but no midi interface.
This is my motherboard's built in sound.
Been thinking of buying a separate card, but
the audio seems ok for recording. I just need to
hook up my keyboard.

you can get a cable for it for like $15. I have one that has never been used if you want to work out a deal.
 
I bought the adaptor at a local music store. Basically, it has MIDI in and out on one end and the other end goes into the joystick port.

It cost me almost $30, but you could probably find one cheaper if you looked online.
