The most likely cause is the cut being made to the file and cutting off (or starting up) the sound abruptly. Some programs will allow you to cut a file at a 'zero point', i.e. where there is no signal. Or you can do this by creating short fade-outs and fade ins where there is a join. Or if you are in Reaper, by doing an overlap.

It's a fairly easy fix in Mixcraft.
Just drag the ends of each track to overlap or create a very quick fade out/fade in.
It's all done by the click of a mouse so you'll pick it up in no time.
Magnify as much as possible. That also helps.

If you cut the track where the amplitude of the waveform is anywhere but 0 (which is going to be the majority of the time, unless you are very very lucky!) you are going to create a situation where the signal is going to near-instantaneously move from having amplitude to not having amplitude - this creates a nice little pop or crackle :)

Just do a little fade (it can be small - it could be a matter of a dozen samples if you wanted) at the beginning and end of each cut track.

You could also use mute automation on the tracks too which leaves everything intact just mutes the output (without any artifacts in my experience thus far) so if you want to put something back in later you don't have to try and paste things together
