Pro Tools Question

This is not so much a mixing question but an edit question. I thought this would be the best place to post since there is no Pro Tools section of the site. (hint hint)

I have done something to my editing capabilities recently and I don't know how to get back to the way things were.

At one time I could click and drag on the track I wanted to record on. Now for some reason I must go to the timeline section of the edit window and set the blue/red arrows to record the section I want.

This is a real pain in the ass because I have to highlight the section / zoom out/ and as I zoom back in I have to keep track of those damn arrows.

Is this making any sense?

I need to highlight the actual waveform and that's the section it records / no arrows.
 
i think what you're talking about is the Timeline/Edit Link Enable button.
Right above the timeline look for the word Grid. Go to left of that somewhere above all the track names you will see a button that has a dot, two veritcal lines, another dot and then a down and up arrow. make sure this is selected. i think this will cure your problem. let me know if it doesn't.

thanks for the reply, I was troubleshooting some problems I was having recently and was instructed to take that off. So that's where the problem lies, thanx a million!
 
no problem! hope to see you there. taking that button off is good for conforming a selection to a certain area when using the consolidate selection feature and having a quick pre/post roll of a selection you already have made. :cool:

really?? that's weird. we don't even have a ton of members yet.
 
On the member list, I only see a jonhall5446 .

Are you sure you accidntely try to register twice or so?

If so I can alway sdelete the username so you can make a new one. Just PM or email me!
