Hey,
I've just today purchased an M Box 2 Mini to work on a Pro Tools mix and am having big problems getting it / Pro Tools to work.
I follow the installation process in the manual and the installation gets to the final stage and won't bring up the final stage the the "Finished" buttom to complete setup. Most of the files are installed but Pro Tools won't open.
Anyone any ideas what the problem may be?

It's probably worth noting I'm running XP on a Laptop with 1024mb RAM and a 2.0Ghz dual processor. I've also got Sonar 6 installed and also use an Edirol UA101 but this isn't plugged in at the moment.

Thanks in advance,
James

Any virus software, firewalls or windows defender running?

go to start>run and type services.msc and disable any services relating to the above [during the pro tools install, re-enable the services after you've installed PT]

Also, did you do the install in this order;

[uninstall all digidesign apps/drivers through add/remove programs in control panel before you re-install]

1.Turn on PC
2.Install pro tools drivers
3.Reboot
4.When computer is loaded back into windows, plug in mbox
5.Go through win install follow prompts to install automatically [select no to connect to the net]

After that right click my compter>properties>hardware tab>device manager , find your mbox under "sound, video and game controllers" check to see there are no exclamation marks next to the device.

Also, if that doesn't work

go to start>run and type eventvwr and check your system and application logs to find out what the system is reporting when you try to run PT.

When you say it won't open, is there an error message?

make sure your chipset is compatible, theres info on digidesign.com website

It turns out it may be because I'm running XP Media Centre which apparently "isn't compatible". I was always led to believe that Media Centre was basically XP Pro with added functions for media / tv playback.
Is there anything I can do to get around this without forking out another few hundred pounds for XP Pro or Vista (which I really dont want to use). I've heard of other people running LE on Media Centre.

Few hundred pounds?!?!?

In australia xp pro is 180AUD

which is about 60-70 pounds

Order it from over here?

www.msy.com.au

Seriously i wouldn't even waste your time trying to get media centre to work with PT, just go with whats recommended

And even then, you'll be a few hundred tweaks away from a nice PC pro tools rig

google > Audio pc tweaks
