Pro Tools 8 issue

I'm still using pro tools 8 and when I go to open it it does the little opening animation and after awhile says it's open but It's not I can't do anything with it. It doesn't even open a project and it still says im on safari or what ever app im running. I'm on mac osx 10.6.7

do you use waves?

if not. trash all the preferences. Google that, there's a nice wee tool that does it all for ya.

I've demoed waves before and I don't think i've deleted them so I'll just delete the waves plugins from the plugin folder?

That might be it. Be sure to delete the waveshells.

There is a known issue where a waves dialogue appears behind the splash screen.
