Pro Tools 10 on a PC

Hi,
What are the best setting to record at to stop pops & clicks, and minimize the headphone delay?
Seems no matter what I do, I get either gurgle sounds or pops & clicks?
 
It would be helpful to know what interface you're using. Generally speaking, the interface will have a provision for low latency input monitoring which you would use instead of monitoring through PT.
 
Your buffer size, which effects latency, is probably the first thing to look at.

Large buffer eg 1024 = high latency but easier load on the computer.
Small buffer eg 32 = low latency but heavy load on the computer.

This isn't as much of a concern these days because modern computers are very capable. What spec is your machine?
The could be more going on here so try the buffer settings and report back. :)
 
Are you using S/PDIF or IF FW/DM to interface to the computer?
 
Pops and clicks means too few buffers (your machine can't handle the load). Audible latency means too many.
If you either get one or the other; i.e. 128 gives you clicks and 256 gives you latency, you may have some other issue.
For all intents and purposes, this desk should work seamlessly with Logic or ProTools.

Any suggestions on the latency prob, or just having some d-rail time? I love d-rails!
