Just too much noise produced by the unit without anything in the input, is a good reason to bash the thing. But I havent heard one with a good tube in it. Putting the mullard in the presonus I had made alot of diference to it.

Ed: I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions and share your insight. My ears tell me the sound you got on that Porterhouse tune is the kind of sound I'm lookin' to achieve. That's part of the reason for me asking about the rest of the chain you were using. I'm not gonna have a Ghost console any time soon. But as much as I like the features of the DTC I'm starting to think I may get more than one color pre and stay in my budget by going with the Envoice (which I really like using) and possibly the dual MP (for another option). It would even leave room for some other necessities
