whats out there and how much better is it?

than say a Delta 1010, or an Aardvark Q10?

Price ranges...product names...something to go on for some research...thanks!

(mainly just care abotu A/D)

Apogee Rosetta. Lucid 9624. Good stuff Maynard.

not much is better than the 1010.

buy a 1010. I have a lucid 9624(supposedly better than rosetta) and its marginally better than the 1010. Not really worth the extra $700 imho(unless of course you want nirvana)

I have to agree with the above
Its got to be apogee............ :)

since he accented "pro", maybe he is looking for nirvana......i dont think he'll find it with a Delta 1010....damn fine card though for project studios......

for "pro level", some people might say Lucid AD/DA 9624's with a Lucid GenX6 96 clock.....Mr. Koppert?.....

If you think for one second that the converters on the 1010 will prevent you in some way from getting pro results, I doubt you have the ears to make a pro mix happen.

I dont think the 1010 would KEEP a "Pro" from getting "Pro" results.....but i dont think a "Pro" would LIMIT himself in that way either.....

Yup

Its really a matter of context. While there are better converters out there than the 1010, they wont do anywhere near as much as upgrading mics, pres, comps and EQs and room.

YUP.

assuming one is using a delta 1010 and an art preamp, an upgrage to a vintech neve running a blue bottle will be far better than upgrading to an apogee psx-100 and leaving the mics and pres the same.
