pro audio install.

Yes, my non-computer literate ass is having more problems. I tried to install pro audio 9 on my computer. It all worked until I got to the screen where it told me to enter the cd# . I enter the number I was given, and it just dings and does nothing. So I close out of setup. Now every time I boot up my computer, when it would normally get to the desktop, Cakewalk setup comes up and I have to go through all that crap. Now I don't really care about having pro audio 9, I have sonar 2.0. I just wanted to check it out and see if I liked it better. What I want now is to get this thing from trying to setup every time I start my computer! Any help much appreciated.
 
If I recall there were two sets of numbers with PA9 - the serial number and the CD Setup Key. Make sure you are supplying the correct one and you should be able to finish the install. After that, you can probably delete it if you wish.

Not sure why you wanted to do this if you already had Sonar. Seems to me that's like having Windows XP but having an overwhelming desire to check out Windows 3.1.
 
nobody ever accused me of being smart, fella. thanks, though, it does have two sets of numbers, I'll give it a whirl tonight

However...
I've never seen the point in using discontiued software, but some people insists on doing just that. Maybe it's that they've never gotten used to Sonar, or something... It's just a habbit, you can change that. :)
 
here's a theoretical question. what if, for the sake of conversation, of course, I already deleted the setup file in an attempt to alleviate aformentioned symptoms. Not that I would have done that. Of course not. never.........
 
So you say you downloaded it from the net? You get what you pay for, my friend! :D


But anyWHO! Since it (for some reason) wasn't supplied on any CD, you'll need to do some serious registry tweaking. Search for Cakewalk in the registry...
 
Suppose my meager skills manage to find it in the regtistry, would I be able to tell the difference between what I want to get rid of and something vital to Sonar? If I can tell, then what do I do? delete it? Hump my computer desk? THAT, I can do well. I'm starting to freak myself out. I don't want to disable my computer. If something goes wrong isn't there some function wich restores everything to a previously working state? Thanks for all the help.
 
I'll bet Pro Audio's registry entrys is located in a subfolder under Cakewalk. I haven't installed PA9 on my new audio-computer, and I never will, so I can't tell you for shure.

And don't you mean "Hump on your computer desk"? Now, that's pleasure! A woman and a PC combined... :D

Is PA9 located in the "Add/Remove Programs" under the Control Panel? If it is, use that one...

And before you do anything:
BACK UP THE REGISTRY!
