um....no.why would you? Engineers have been doing without them for years. Use those two things on either side of your head.

If you do go with the BG, be sure to Ask mick to customize it with 66db of Gain, since you have the royer.

You shouldn't need that much gain for micing guitar cabinets.......

I wouldn't be asking about the the mic pres, compressors and such if the musician part wasn't up to par. I have spent the last 20 years of my life aquiring my gear, so that's taken care of as well.

If you've already nailed the sound, the rest should be fairly easy.

Those are words of comfort. I am specifically going for that BIG FAT guitar sound we all know and love. I think the 2 mics blended will help me acheive that. Thanks.

I'd think about using the re-20 as well (with the Royer). :D

BTW - If I had a dollar for every guy that had a POS amp, and played like crap, that wanted me to make them sound like (fill in the blank) - I'd be a rich man. Getting the source to sound right makes everything SOOOOOOOO much easier.

Yeah, but I doubt hed confine himself to ONLY guitar cabs..I know I dont have a mic that havent found multiple uses for. Better to have and not need than vice versa. You never know what kind of stuff can creep into your schedule.

Now that I some great mic-pre suggestions,

Should I ditch the ART PRO VLA in favor for a DEMETER COMPULATOR or a RNC? Which would help add more warmth and fatness to my lead gtr tracks?
