Hello, in a case of the blind leading the very blind, I'm currently involved in a youthwork project in which we are 'training' a bunch of musical kids to use a recording 'studio' we have set up in a medium-sized room at a local church.

These guys have no background at all and in six weeks need to be at least fairly fluent in using the kit we've put in there and I was wondering - does anyone know of any good 'intro' type websites that cover a bunch of fundamentals (types of microphone, basic mixing theory, etc etc) that I can print out into a little booklet or pack for them?

Anything that saves me writing the material for myself would be good.

Thank you! :)

I suggest this:
http://ebooks.ebookmall.com/ebook/190712-ebook.htm

if you don't mind spending 40 bucks to download the PDF (that way you don't have to buy the book for each student)...I think this book is excellent at explaining the basics. And even at explaining some stuff past the basic level.

---edit---
crap, nevermind. Unless you can figure out a way around it, supposedly you can't print the PDF file? I guess they lock it.
anyway, might be a good hard copy to buy through Amazon and make copies of certain pages.
