Presonus firepod?

how is it? has anyone here used it at all? im curently using a mackie 1604 and an m-audio interface, i was going to get a delta 1010 but i think i jus want to switch to something more simple, would the pre's in the firepod be as good or even better than the ones in a mackie? hows cubase?

Do you mean an original CR-1604? It's hard to find pres that don't sound better, IMHO.... I have one lying around the studio until I get around to eBaying it.... It's my least favorite set of pres in my collection. I'm fairly certain the FirePod I just got will do likewise, but I haven't had a chance to record with them yet, so... ask me after Thanksgiving break.... :D

Now if you mean the CR-1604VLZ, that's a little different, and I can't give much of a comparison there. Those are much better pres.

You're probably right...you should get something a little more simple to work with.
