I got a Yorkville YSM1p for listening music (i am not using it to record music).
Besides, I am using Cambridge Audio’s 640c V.2 to listerning CD. The cd player connect to a yamaha 2400 AV amp and then through it's preout to the YSM1p.
So far, I am quite satisfy with its performance. However, my friend told me that if I connect a pre-amp first and then connect to the YSM1p. If the pre-amp is not too bad, it should improve the performance (more details). However, I don't know any high c/p pre amp. Someone told me that I may choose Beringer's mixer. However, I checked their web site and find two mixer that i think it may works.

However, MX882 is just a mic mixer. Is it good to use as a preamp? any advice for my setup?

A pre-amplifier (preamp) kicks a weak microphone signal up to a stronger line level signal. A amplifier takes the line level signal higher to drive a passive speaker. The Yorkville YSMp is NOT a passive speaker, rather it is a powered speaker and as such does not require an amplifier. I daresay if you tried to drive it with one you would fry it, though I don't know... I wouldn't try it. A preamp would do nothing for you.
