I'd go with either the DMP3 or the VTB1. I'd probably favor the VTB1 because when I used one I did note that it put a decent image in the monitors with an SM58.

Agreed. My own experiences with the VTB1 paired with dynamic mics reflects what you wrote in your review.

Easy... I'd go to eBay and get a Symetrix SX-202 for about 125.... maybe a bit more.
