Could someone enlighten me on a mic preamps digital conversion, for instance do I need to buy the additonal converters on a micpreamp llike the Joe Meek products or Mindprint if I'm using a digital portable workstation??? I see some products like dbx376/576 preamps supposedly have that built in already, does it depend on what type of digital equipment your using??

do you really need to run your preamps with a digital out? it's not a great sound. run it through it's analog outs, much nicer!

YES-your question has confused me.....

preamps like the Joe Meek or Mindprint can go straight into the inputs of your digital recorder, assuming it has analog inputs....if im assuming wrong, what digital workstation do you have?......

I dont have digitial equipment yet, but I was looking at a portable digital workstation, like the tascam 788. I'm confused as to what these additional digital cards do, shouldnt the digital converters on the recording workstation allow these preamps to be used as is??
