Pre & Post Fader

Are the audio tracks on pro tools pre fader or post fader. Are the effects on the inserts effect the audio 1st THEN goes to the fader? or the other way around?

Hey matey
I have wondered about that as well.
If the software behaves the same as a hardware unit then the channel fader is generally the final thing in the chain before hitting the master buss.
So it will go through all your inserts first, then the resultant audio will pass through the fader before going to whatever you have set the output to be for that channel.
....unless you also have a pre-fade aux send on the channel, but that's another kettle of a different colour ;)

I don't use PT, but this is simple to figure out for yourself. Insert any plug-in that has a meter onto a track, then adjust the track volume. If the plug-in's meter changes, then it's post fader.
