I have a sterling St-51 i just upgraded from the MXL 990 and i had always ran my mic straight to my M-audio Mobile Pre But i have a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer now and i want to know if it would be better for me to run the mic to the mixer then the mobile pre. Just trying to see what will give me the best vocal quality.
PlZ HELP AND GIVE DIRECTIONS ON HOW I SHOULD DO THIS

Have you tested it on booth? you should be able to tell which pre amp sounds better to you.

I hope you got the guitar center closeout deal for $79 on that mic. :)

It would be best to avoid the mixer altogether.

I don't understand why you would ask anybody this if you have both pieces of gear and you could try them (?).

To me, if something sounds better to my ears I don't give a shit what anybody else says.

It's like shoes, only you can decide which ones you like, it doesn't matter what anybody else's opinion is.

It is generally quicker / more accurate to just test them side by side, since you have both pieces of gear. Just guessing that the Mobile Pre will likely be better. But not necessarily. Depending on what you use to take up the slack on the mixer in terms of A->D conversion.

Most of the time that mixer is going to degrade the signal and add noise...that is why I just came out and said it like that.

he cant use one or the other! he has to use one or both! keep the signal chain as simple as possible IMO.:D:D:D:D
