Pre amp line out

Hi

I'm running my bass onto a joe Meek preamp/ compressor and then out to my focusrite interface...just wondering whether the signal boost on the focusrite line in should be on or off?..or whether it matters if you just adjust the gain anyway?

Signal boost? What Focusrite are you talking about?

You should probably be going into the 1/4” TRS part of the combo jack with it set to LINE or with INST in the off setting. Then use the GAIN knob to get something in the DAW that peaks below -12dB or so. (Opinions vary and it depends on the type of music/mix of course.)
 
Sorry, it was the inst button I was referring to in the on / off position...I'm using a solo. Thanks for the info...I'll keep it off ?
