PPPLLEEEAASE HELP ME! Mixing from Tascam 488 to an iMac computer

I was trying to find out if there was a way I could mix the music I have on my Tascam 488 8-track down to my iMac. The iMac is actually the first model that came out, so it doesn't have a CDR-RW or anything. I don't think a sound card with the appropriate "jacks" or whatever can be put in it. But is there some software and some way I could get the music into the computer and make it a file? I was hoping I could buy some wire or something which could go into a USB port or something.

Any Help would be very much appreciated!
