I have the output of a couple sound cards going into a Behringer Eurorack. The main outs of the Eurorack go through line level cable to powered monitor speakers. I turn the mixer knobs on the Eurorack to 0 db and the main out to 0db. The monitor speakers have an "input sensitivity" knob that marks the position for -20db (all the way counter clockwise), -5 db (half turn), and max (fully clockwise). From what I know of recording so far, I record tracks just under their clipping point and setting the knobs on the mixer at 0db gives me the recorded level and I can't turn them much higher since I already recorded just below clipping. My recording input device, Sonar, and my Eurorack mixer all have lights to let me know where the signal is at. The monitors don't. So, if I turn those knobs up too high will I get clipping and how do I know where I can turn the monitors up to? Are the monitors the "power-amp" part of the amplification and I can turn them all the way up if the signal is line level?
