I am trying, trying, trying to survive my learning curve here.

I bought Power Tracks after being told that it's very user friendly. However, being a super-newbie I think I thought that meant that the manual/tutorial would be helpful to the uninitiated.
I thought wrong.

So I'm here to ask a question that just may lead me to a few answers (and undoubtedly to more questions as well!)

I have a Fostex MR8. Is dumping the raw tracks into Power Tracks and mixing/mastering them on my computer going to make a HUGE difference in finished sound? Or would you recommend that maybe I learn to mix/master on the Fostex and then dump the finished file on my computer to burn?

I would think that the flexibility you would have mixing your tracks on the computer would far outweigh what you can do on the MR8.

Moving recorded files to the PC and then mixing with PowerTracks gives you more flexibility.

There are far more effects and options built into Power Tracks than on the MR8. Since you transfer files from one to the other in digital form, you lose nothing.

Power Tracks can even do things like remember volume changes made during the mix down process so that if you come back 6 months later, what you did the last time is still saved in the song files.

With any package thjere is some learning curve time, but it's worth it when the dust settles.
