Hi. I am brand-new to this list. I've been clicking around the site for several days, and this looks like the place for me!
I am looking for free (or very cheap) multi-track software that will work with my CM8738 card under Windows 2000. I'll probably get an Extigy and a laptop in the near future to record wherever the music is, but for now I want to learn on the modest equipment I have. W2K is the only Windows OS I want to use. I'm mostly a linux user at home, but my first foray into home recording will be in Windows as it's easier (I'll have my hands full with the task at hand and don't want to be slowed down learning how to compile kernels and what not).
Through homerecording.com I have come across PG Music Power Tracks Audio ver. 7, and PC Tools Free. Will either of these run trouble-free in Windows 2K? The summaries don't mention that OS, but also don't expressly state that they will not work under it.
I will switch to Windows 98 if I must, but if I don't I won't.
Chris
