Jesus, dude. Save some talent for the rest of us, would ya? :)

I think the drums are a little quiet, most specifically the kick drum. I'd have the snare a little more forward. When the lead overdubs kick in, they sound a little loud in comparison.

Nice work.

Double post...sorry.

Great recording. I really enjoyed the guitar playing even though it was a bit novice... KIDDING! Really good musicianship and songwriting. Definite old school vibe... feels like it could be playing over a surf video.

Great songwriting, man! I really liked the song. I listened to the recording though earbuds, so, take that into consideration.

The crash cymbals on this song drove me nuts. They sound incredibly brittle and cheap. Rest of the set was okay. Snare and kick need to be brought up so they never get covered up. Guitars sound awesome. Bottom-end was a bit low overall. I'd kick the bass section up a few dbs.

But dude... Love the songwriting... Great tune ya got there! Thanks for sharing.

Not that I don't love all your stuff, I do, but you finally wrote a "single", something with a pretty good hook - Nice! ::cool: Your lead tone has a special 'Satch' tone to it on this one that I really love, freakin' sweet :D. Now that you have that single, when does the album come out? Put me down for 1 :)
Go make some more songs like this one :D;)

Damn! Excellent all the way around. What can I say except WOW!

Yep, Cymbals hurt my dogs ears. Kick feels 'fuddy'. A bit more click on kick and maybe cut some 200-550hz and I'm buying the download!

This was about what I was expecting. BAD ASS. Love listening to your stuff Gonzo.

Great recording, very modern in your face sound. I hear the same things as everyone else, but have a different suggestion. I'd just lower the guitars a few db, they sound great but are the culprit of masking everything else. Great job! No reason this couldnt get wide distribution. Excellent work!

hehe thanks man.
you know, i debated about the drum mix.
i did mixes drum up, even, down, tried em highly compressed, totally not compressed.
where i ended up, was my favorite version, mostly because i wanted the guitar arrangement to rule the overall sound.
i know these decisions are subjective, folks are all over the map with what they like or not on this one, i just knew i wanted the mix to push things melodically a bit.
the drums are so kick ass on this one (brent dacus) i really should just do a drum-heavy mix as an alternate.
thanks for listening

whitestrat-
LOL appreciate it

dogmatic
surf videos!
now theres a market i could target!
hehe
i had a local extreme ski movie guy, approach me about some background music, i sent it to him, but he didn't use it. i guess certain meters and chord changes lends itself to that kind of stuff.

poetic
thansk man, i appreciate the listen.
you know, the drum mix was done in another studio...
another engineer did the drum capture for me, and sent me the files.
i had to work with what i had.. i think there were some phasing issues with the two overheads, i worked them as best i could.

maximus
a single with a hook!
LOL, well, i've never targeted commercial product as my goal, but it is a pretty straightforward melody.
i've had this thing for years, it's gone thru several different versions.
this album will be available on cdbaby in about a month, along with a brand new one.

track rat

glad you dig it.....

The label is SPOT ON re the music. Terrific Power Pop with a prog vocal tone.
I think you actually need a slightly rougher voice (as in not so spot on) to get the PP essence.
The harmonies throw me to Starcastle which is a long way from PP.
being a prog head & a power pop head too this has me in al sorts of directions - but each way is fun!
P.S.
Bloody hell you're good!

Nice song and songwriting Gonzo, the guitars are very tight sounding and keep the song smoking along! The lead tone is great-some of it had a 'Steve Morse' sound and attitude happening-I like it a lot.....

ha, that's funny that it hits you right with the description..
so many people are all over the map with what they consider 'power', 'pop', and all the permutations!
hehe
i guess ultimately, it's just in reference to whatever other material somebody puts out.
the voice decision, yeah, i can obviously sing it dirtier, but i had so many other tunes that had that dirty approach, i wanted to try it clean, for something different than the other tunes.
thanks for listening and commenting!

queepy
thanks, i appreciate it.

i'm a big morse fan, but that guy is just a monster.
