Doing the math and reading the specs is worthless. If thats enough to sell gear Behringer would be on top of the world. Until you go try/buy/borrow some of these cables and upgrade your entire signal path you can't possibly know what you're talking about and you're working completely off speculation.

My rythm guitarist had to change every tone knob on his JCM2000 and adjust every setting on all 3 of his distortion pedals after the first practice we had after he had plunked down for monster cables. It changed the distorted tone of his guitar in a big way. Yes it would help to make open distorted chords more distinct.

Yes it costs more than I want to spend for that quality. So does a U87, but someday I'll spend it.

I disagree, but you're welcome to your opinion. I have used lots of cables of all makes and models in over 40 years of dealing with this stuff. Anecdotal evidence is what is really worthless; show me a difference I can measure and I'll believe it.

And a very prominent guitarist from right here in Austin absolutely swears that the direction in which his cables are connected makes a huge difference in his tone. Hearing is subjective. If you hear a difference or if you think you hear a difference, it's all the same. Go with what works for you.

and in dropped D I play this alot, it adds a little sparkle to the power chord.

Whos that?

The guy from tool.. ya know thats funny you mention that, I play Sober with that chord.

The first band I started playing that chord with though wasn't Tool, it was Helmut on that song "Unsung"

Personally, if I want to do non powerchord stuff distorted, either I'll turn the distortion lower or I use 2-3 string chords. A lot of strings will make the notes mesh together too much and that seems to be the best way to make the chords sound better.
