Hey, I'm currently in the process of getting a mixer for my studio. I'm getting the Allen & Heath ZED-22FX and I was wondering if since it's unpowered, and I'm using it for a studio, do I need to get a power amp still or does it not matter since it's going into an audio interface?

Thanks!

The fact that it is an unpowered mixer really has no bearing on its studio use.

You do, though, have to think about your monitoring chain.

Most likely the monitoring path will come directly from the interface to monitors, but the path could be routed through the mixer.

In either case, you will need something to drive your monitors. You can do this by (a) gettig a power amp to drive the monitors, or (b) get active monitors.

Additionally, you might want a power amp running off the mixer to drive a set of alternative speakers.

I have active monitors

so there really is no use for a power amp in my situation?
