I understand the need for an accurate monitoring system for mixing and I think I have a good grip on what makes a speaker appropriate for this (flat response, no colouring of the sound like with hi-fi speakers).
In all of my reading I've not noted that the power amp doesn't get mentioned too often. Am I correct in thinking that the amp could potentially 'colour' the sound also? As such do manufacurers produce 'accurate' amps specifically for monitoring?
If so any suggestions?
Also I'm aware that active monitors may be the best option but is this the most economical?
ie. The Tannoy Reveal actives are £350 whereas the passives are £150. Am I going to get a decent power amp for much less than £200 (roughly US$370).
Thanks
