exactly how i feel at the dentists' office- scared to death, heart beating a million miles and hour, here comes the drill, it's spinning at 60 million revolutions a minute, the sweats are jumping out of me like hundreds of exiting pods from the mothership...oh no, here comes the needle.......it does in and the pain is like a thousand shards of glass piercing the roof of my mouth..........

i really like it. no wankin here!

Thanx Gonzo-X,coming from you,it means a lot!!

By the way Gonzo-X,what is your role in the band. Are you the
guitarist? Are you the whole band for that matter? In any event,
it sounds very professional to me!Kuddos!!!

ONE MAN BAND, BEEZELBUBBA!

yeah, all tracks are gonzo only tracks.....
everything into a roland vs880ex, mastered in the vs and onto the cd......
all recorded in the comforts of my own domicile, with programming of drums on either an older roland 505, or a new zoom 123...
shakers, tambourines and the like all done live.....
all guitars recorded through a mesa boogie mark 2b and a pair of celestion-loaded cabs....
usually a 57 on the cab, or an audio technica 4033.....
bass through art mp preamp into the vs, with an amp sim on it.......
vocals through the at4033 or the sm57........

i've gotta download the newer submissions on monday.... will review then.....

N-ER-G! I really liked the sycopation change on the guitars
at 2:30 and 4:58...cool!

CyanJaguar:
Very airy mix...good vocal recording.

GONZO_X:
Very nice tune! I really like the guitar work and that snare sound,
was that your Zoom 123?

heinz:
Nice Queen type guitar opening and sweet change at 1:20.
Nice selection of guitar sounds...be great to hear some vocals!

sonusman:
I got a 404 error trying to download...bummer,
I would like 2 hear the tune.

Everybody sounds damn good...keep it up.
Raido seems so lame anymore.

Re: my best reverb ever

CyanJaguar said:
I walked out of my library one day, singing. THe reverb I heard was excellent. So I analyzed it and discovered that it was a combination of a small airy room verb and a bigger plate verb at a lower level.

I tried to duplicate it in this song and it works great, I think. especially on the vox

Great singing! You've got a really good voice, Cyan. The vocal sound and reverb, and guitars sound great. Two minor things, I think, are the "p"s, plosives, (is that the word?), and also, when the second guitar comes in, it sounds a little awkward to me. Maybe have that come in on the 1. Really good!!

Thanks jgourd for the hosting

Here are two cuts from 1995. They are not my best but give a example of making the most of the gear on hand. Recorded on two old ADATS via a Soundtracs Solo Midi 16 channel board. Mics were a 414 AKG, some Audio Technica Pro series, SM57 58's. Effects were Yamaha and Alesis. No mastering just compression on the LR Buss. Please give some feedback and sorry for the long download. I wanted to give a song people are familiar with and a funny one too.

You are welcome

I like the I am the Walrus track. I like creative covers in general.

Have you ever heard Jim Carry's I am the Walrus? You can find it on the George Martin album "In My Life".

Thanks,
I have not heard Jim Carry's version. I will take a look online for it and take a listen. Thanks again for the web space. You can take it off when you like. A e-mail when you do will be nice.
Thanks

That was a sweet tune CyanJaguar! No criticism to offer, really!

coming in a little late...

Sorry to be throwing my two cents in so deep in the thread (been busy moving -- dismantling the studio is never fun)...

I'm hoping to post something new in the next week or two and, with any luck at all, that will be the best (I'd hate to think I'm getting worse...) :-/> but for now "Complete" is probably my personal fave (mix-wise) and it seems to be the fave of most who hear it... Any input or suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

P.S. Awesome thread, btw!

Outstanding!

I'm not even going to attempt to compete till I get a few days in Abbey Road ;).

However my current offering is definitely my best mix without external (ie you guy's) help. www.ampcast.com/jags (Riot). Mastered in a Cubase way, but I don't think that counts, although a few tracks have been compressed/equalized using plugins.

I would have to say my best track is "Wings" on my band's website

www.highpotencymusic.com

If you've heard that one before, just remember, this is the new version, and this time I didn't he same two rave to record the Rythym to the same two tracks as the drums, because I wasn't limited to 8 tracks, (Gawd, I love my Digi001 and PTLE 5.1) All recording and mixing done in PTLE, used a bit of compression in the final mix. Editing was minimal. for the most part, all tracks are one contunious take, (We did several takes, and that and Stripping silence, and unwanted noise from the vocal tracks, when the vocalists arent singing, was the extent of my editing)

For the record, Mic Pre's were a Mackie CFX12. (I've been told that Mackie mixer pre's are the most transparent you can get on a budget. I'm pretty satisfied. For a sample of how bad our recording used to be visit the website and listen to "Open Tracks"

We're working on the redo of that one now.

I'm new to recording(about a year now) but this is one of my better recordings. I was able to get the vocals to sound pretty close to how I like them.
the song is called "Farm Boy"

CyanJaguar...great song dude! Really liked the natural like reverb on your vocals..sounded great. Like macle said about the "p"s, plosives, only one mabey two, would have to listen again, but that's the only thing that stuck out to me. I really liked this alot man...

wow some great stuff there. I love checking out everyone's music.

Here's a mix I'm pretty happy with. This is an original rock instrumental tune recorded & mixed in CW9.

thanks-

That song was great man! How'd you get those queen-esque guitar sound? I've wanted that sound for the longest time and I haven't been much into the whole recordin' thing long.
