Now I'm curious. Was that edited on film or scanned in and assembled digitally?

had it transferred here in Toronto... a company does it... I think each frame was scanned... then edited on the computer....

however... no special effects were used in the digital domain... :)

sorry for the multiple posts. cant figure out how to delete them!!

thanks!

Thank you guys.
Using rode NT3 on acoustic and electric which is through a fender deluxe hotrod. vox are through a studio projects TB1. using a wharfdale reverb unit, rhythm egg. quite a bit of hiss through that old m216 board, but only really noticable at the start. The bass is just through a korg pedal.
Its funny to hear the concise-ness of the digital recorded stuff compared to the 8 track work, but i can honestly say i prefer the 8 track. I dont even own a computer at the moment. the 002 is gathering dust! Ive not used any compressors or anything. mixed down to a Zoom H2 recorder, then the SD card straight into the girlfriends computer. I own a DAT walkman but the hassle of it isnt worth it. i find the zoom converts the analog good enough and its easy to work with. still learning.

much appreciated everyone. im very excited because i recorded some real drums tonight for blinded and lost found. i think its gonna make the songs alot better....ill get onto it tomorrow!

Here's a couple of songs my duo recorded the other night. These were recorded live to the Ampex 440 using all 4 tracks then mixed down to the Tascam 32. I added some compression. Maybe too much. A couple of these are covers so I probably won't leave them up long.

The Silly Games song almost sounded like it was recorded digitally. How did you record it?

I know what you mean, I went for a very clean sound.

I recorded it on a Fostex R8 through a Fostex 812 Mixer. The drums were miked up with three mics, an oktava MK-219 overhead, an AKG D112 on the kick and an SM57 on the snare. They were compressed, EQ'd and mixed to one track. The Bass is a Hofner Violin bass DI'd with compression. The rhythm guitar is a strat through a sessionette 75 miked with an SM57 and double tracked. There is also an acoustic guitar which was recorded with an Oktava MK-219. The Lead guitar is a tele through a fender Blues Deluxe and miked with an SM57. The vocals are recorded with an Oktava MK-219.

I think that's all the details :)

Good Song, Nice mix, I like how there isn't very much master compression which I think is something that music has way to much of now.

Thanks, it was mixed straight to CD then mastered in cubase with a waves L2 plugin. I don't really like that over-compressed sound so I used just enough to get it up to an acceptable volume.

Nice job! Good song too.

I feel I need to make my mixes louder after hearing yours! :D

So, after a long quiet period where I couldn't quite get my muse in gear, I read a rather interesting webcomic about heaven and hell which gave me a suitable emotional kick. And this happened:

I think I mixed the intro too quiet. There are a couple of other things I'd like to fix, but I'm rather pleased with it overall.

Aside from the storyline it echoes, the chief inspirations for this were from the album 'S.F. Sorrow' by the Pretty Things (which was recorded on 4-track valve recorders in 1968 at Abbey Road). The ring modulator vocals idea came from "I See You" and the chorus is a firm nod to "Private Sorrow".
For those wondering about 'v2', the first version also poached part of the tune from 'Private Sorrow' - hence I reworked those parts as soon as I realised that I'd done this.
