I don't really want to mount treatment directly to the wall, though I sometimes could use a little to cut down on flutter echo. So rather than permanently mounting foam on the wall surface, I have this crazy idea of permanently mounting it to something very thin but stiff like a piece of acrylic or a very thin piece of wood. Then I'd drill a hole (or holes) in the acrylic/wood and I could hang the contraption on nails in the wall. When I wanted to remove it, I could just take the foam down rather than peeling it off.
Acoustically speaking, is there some reason this would make the treatment less efficient? I can imagine acrylic being reflective of mids and highs, but I don't know how its reflectivity would compare to that of a lathe/plaster wall.
