anyone one know of a site or anything where you can find out the "dial in" settings of famous acts using the Mesa Dual Rec. I've been trying to get a thrice like sound out of mine, and I can't seem to get it.. I know they use the same amps themselves.. so was wondering how they do it.

If you're talking about on a recording, you're going to find it hard pressed to get a sound just like you hear. There are just too many things to consider. And just because they endorse Dual Rec's doesn't mean that that is all they used in the studio. There's probably different amps layered together. Then you have to consider the player, the guitar, the pickups, the pick, the technique, the room, the cab, the speaker, the mic, the pre, the compressor, the eq, etc, etc, etc.

To answer you question directly, I have never heard tell of a site that gives settings for certain bands. I think there are a few groups for Triaxis users, but I don't know of any for the Dual Rec.

My recommendation is that you just dial in something that you like. Find a sound you like. If it happens to sound like someone else, so what? It's a sound that you like and that's all that matters. Get in there and start turning knobs. It won't kill you.

about 6 months. Sang for tons of bands that have em.. first time owning one myself.

Putting distortion in front of the Rectifier can make a big difference, as well as to what medium you are recording: recording to tape will sound a lot different than recording to a computer.

What he said. There are just too many variables involved in the recording process to get exactly the sound another band has. Just twist knobs until you get something you like then go with it. Try turning the gain down a little. I once tracked a band that swore by their Dual Recs and they loved to dime out the gain but complained about the tone being thin on the recording. After pulling it back to around three quarters it really sounded much better.
