Pop rock tune, "Keep Dreaming". Would like some constructive criticism for this piece

This piece was recorded in my bedroom, everything done with software instruments/DI. How is it? How can I make it better? Thanks for listening!

I liked the guitars. They sounded good. Liked the performance too.

I like the singer's voice.

Little pop at :43. Sounded like a bad edit maybe?

The vocal was much dryer than the backing tracks.

The bass was a little thin sounding.

The drums weren't bad. Snare sounded good. Kick is a little soft. The cymbals were a little loud I think. Soundcloud might be trashing them a little bit - they sound a bit hissy.

But in general, I liked this.

Thanks, TripleM! I'll have a listen to it later today to go over everything, but so far it seems like there's nothing too big. I'm so glad to hear that!

Thanks so much for the input.

Vocals sound on top of the instrumentals, like someone singing over karaoke tracks. I imagine it could work with them wetter or not, but I'd set them back into the mix just a touch.

Ditto to that. The sound stage for this song is as if a guy is standing close and singing in front of a good stereo system. The vocal needs to sit in the mix better. The vocal track has a completely different feel to it that the rest of the tracks. Yes....as boulder said......like someone who's singing over karaoke tracks. Not trying to be tough on you here. Did you mix the vocal early or late in the process?

Good guitar tone for DI. Nice composition. Left speaker crash is pushy. Don't know how else to put it. It's just in your face and a bit too loud and a bit to shrill...pushy. Maybe a 14k lo pass? Maybe just a 2dB cut. Don't know. Bass is well played, but lacks balls. Maybe just a touch of demolition and some parallel compression to keep the definition and a hint of 120-180Hz boost.
Everything sits pretty well in the mix sonically (timbre) and just a few tweeks to dynamic (including the suggestions to the voice) and this is a hot single! Really good for bedroom.

Good energy; decent recording. I agree, set the vocals a little further back, maybe via better EQing. Just my two cents, coz that's all I have at this early stage in my understanding of recording/mixing.
