lol...fake drums.
Yeah I wanted to know if you could tell. That's why I didn't put anything like "do they fake drums sound real enough"
Hi -hats are the biggest problem in sequenced drums. But in this case the dead give away to me is the kick in the quiet part.
As for the snare, yeah it's a little small. I started mixing it and I thought it sounded a lot like the last new found glory record, so I just kinda went with it. I just got that sonic implants sound font kit and the drums are AMAZINGLY realistic..maple dw's and yamahas...I don't think I'd be able to tell a difference..I just finishing it building my elec drum kit with my dm5 so I can play instead of click. Variation in velocity helps a lot. I should remix it so you guys can see them.
With regards to this song, this is pretty much just a demo. It's great to write songs with protools right here, because within an hour I can go from the lyrics and an acoustic guitar to a decent sounding mix. It's a 4 piece band right now we're looking at an additional female vocalist (with a hard strong voice...should add a cool dynamic) I just recorded this song so I could teach it to the band. Fake drums won't do for a release. We'll go to another studio and track drums then come back here and re-do eveything.
It's funny I just got home from a late practice with the band and it was TERRIBLE. Anybody ever have band practices like that, where within 20 minutes you realize it's just not happening and you keep looking at the clock saying "when is this going to be over" Oh well. A good practice usually follows a bad one.
After she left from tracking vocals I realized she was a bit early on that phrase...I should have fixed it but I'm lazy

hahaha. We didn't have enough time to do more backups...I tried copying the track to another one and offsetting it a bit and panning but it was too phase-E? I would like to do some more backups. Will it really take that many? I've kinda always wondered how the big guys get those incredible sounding choruses. I will try it for sure.
Lets see...specifics:
I have a pc based digi 001 protools setup.
Drums: fruity loops.
Bass- cheap ass squire jazz bass direct into
a joe meek vc6q with a decent amount of compression. Then I took it into protools and used the sansamp
psa1 plugin on the ampeg svt setting and gave a little more compression.
Vocals: Still wondering what a studio projects c1 sounds like? Thats it going into the meek vc6q and thats it. No eq Whatsoever. A bit of meek compressor the I used
the waves c4 comp on it. I love this mic. I used to record her with
my rode ntv and it sounded BAD. (great mic, not for her)
Just to finish it off...Guitar 79' les paul, pod pro mesa setting.
Thanks for the comments. I reall appreciate it. Any-mo'? Much appreciated.
