whats the diffrence between a metal pop filter and the panty hose one?
and do i need a metal one? i have the spare money for 1 but is it worth it??

I'd go with the metal ones for more "commercial" applications - Easier to clean, much more durable, etc.

For personal use, cloth. Less mass, more effective, but more "gross" in the long run (not that they aren't cleanable).

I second the Metal...cept Ive seen some spittle make it through on occasion.

I like the sound of the panty hose way better and that's all I use.

The best thing is to sing well enough to not need one... the microphone already has one and they do knock a little high end off of the sound.

I think people use them in part because they see all their heroes using them on MTV, because they can't sing correctly.. but there are times when you need one because it makes the sound better.

Try it without and try to sing well - that's the best way.

I hear ya dude but I'd rather not have the perfect take shat upon cuz of some plosives. You can still keep the sheen to the vox, methinks.

btw, I use both. One I made when I was broke and a metal one I got with a bunch of other stuff that made me broke again. :D
