Who should get the DMP3?

The thought of free gear

I think that I'll have to withdraw by bid as well. As much as I would like to have a DMP-3 (who can turn down free gear?) I think that there are others who would be the right choice.

I can't think of how to select the winner so I don't envy your task.

I don't think anyone is worthy, now it's a question of who is the least unworthy? I agree with most every one though. I would love a free preamp, I have actually been looking at them. However I can't buy one because I have a baby on the way and $5000 of credit card debt (from all the recording stuff I have) but I made my choice, I wanted a kid. So if I win I'll take it, and I would definatly be willing to give something away when I dont need it. But I still think someone else would deserve it more.
 
I'm in London -- try as I might, I couldn't stuff that DMP3 into my single carry-on, so I'll ship when I get back. I walked over to Abbey Road Studios today and tried to take a myspace-like cellph-portrait of me crossing the crosswalk, but that didn't work out so well, because my arm's not nearly long enough.

No one said this would be easy :D -- I'm going to go with the person with the most votes who hasn't dropped out at the point that the thread closes.

Unfortunately, there's no way to include the the folks who came in after the initial 12 at this point without seriously messing up (invalidating) the vote math. :( If it's a tie, I'm not sure what I'll do, but I'll figure that out if it happens.

I appreciate your patience everyone. Let's keep this going afterward, and make each one better!

just bumping, because we need more votes! most of the existing votes were placed before sunday, so they shouldn't even count, technically. and self-voting accounts for a bunch as well.

so, if you're checking out this thread, please take a minute to read the pleas and vote!

Why do I want the DMP-3? Other than it is a damn nice pre - perhaps the best for its price. I like to mod and tweak things and I would take this pre and see just what it could be made to do. I would mod it in hopes that a great pre would become an outstanding pre.

And then post it all here so that you can do it too.

I'm going to consider that each person voted for themselves when they signed up, so it doesn't matter whether you do it now.
 
While I'm sure there are numerous "deserving" individuals, my vote goes to the person who has been an unselfish contributor in the analogue forum ;)

I think I should have it because I just purchased one a few weeks ago and it's the business and two would look great together on my shelf.

Only kidding.

Good luck to who ever wins the poll. A great piece of kit to be obtained for free. Stick a Studio Projects B1 through it and hit record. Beautiful!

First I wanna thank you, Antichef... A nice gesture of you.

I´m not sure if any of us deserve it more than the others... I´ll try to think why I should have it...

I can argue that currency change in my country makes imported stuff really expensive... It´s a good thing because national industry has more chances to grow and results in a more fair competition but it can be frustrating when you wanna buy new gear...

To be truthfull the 90% of my recording gear was bought when I lived in Spain... :)

I´m OK with the idea of giving back to the forum in the short time too...

Well... I don´t have much to add... I can´t complain life is good to my and I´m pretty happy these days...

I would like to try the DMP3 (as I only have and Firepod) to keep recording and learning about it...

I don't deserve it because I hardly hang out on this board (or any other board lately). I haven't even recorded or mixed anything close to half a year.

The guy that wants the DMP3 so he can tear it apart is winning. I'm stuck using an Audiobuddy because I'm poor and nobody voted for me. Life is so unfair. :(

yeah, and things have been sitting stagnant for a little while. i'm trying to plug the poll in different groups, but votes are not coming in.
