Polishing up this recording...

That may be down to me just cutting up the vocal and removing unwanted breathes/dead areas... Cutting too close?

The "If" in "If you see me" at about 20 secs is particularly harsh. It could be a copy and paste issue where you have moved the vocal exactly on the beat.

Nice tune and you've got a good voice pizzimperfect. I think the area that sounds like it needs most improvement to me is the tone on the acoustic guitar - it sounds quite frizzy and lacking in body.

It sounds to me like you've recorded from the line out rather than mic'd up - I don't know whether this is right, but I've never managed to get a tone I liked this way. Obviously I don't know what your guitar sounds like normally either, but I think you should be able to get something much nicer with some experimentation with mic placement etc. Get yerself an sm 58 for about £80 and you'll never have to worry about cheap mic hiss again!

I'm in Stretford by the way :)

I think the guitar i'm using just sucks to be honest! It's a very cheap electro/acoustic.
SO.. I am borrow my friends acoustic tonight and i'll attempt to get it redone.
And i used to have an sm58, but somehow it went missing (I personally think it was stolen but with no proof.. it went missing :\)

Ahh stretford, I get the tram from there every morning to work now my bikes been nicked!!

Solid advice, i'm gonna act on it tonight!

OK so the plan for tonight IS..
To re-record the entire guitar part using my mic (only have 1.. and its shit.. ah well)..
I'll use the XY positioning and just do it in takes, moving the position of the mic..
And see how that sounds... Been reading tons about 'tracking too hot' also.. so i'll take care to ensure its right.

If you had to use either a cheap dynamic (the one used above) OR a USB condenser.. what would you use? For the guitar this is.. and the vocal i guess.
The latency on the usb condenser could actually push me to suicide mind.
