I tried it out and it is pretty damn good.. makes me feel good about the $$$ I've dropped on my XT Live...
Yep, using that patch right now. No "scratchy" sound either!

I think whoever suggested to you to do this was pulling your leg. Turning the cabinet simulator off and sending it through a monitor with tweeters just seems like a bad idea. And exactly the opposite of the design.SilverSurfer said:

I keep wanting to check out a POD, but everything I hear discourages me.
I just can't justify that $300 or whatever it costs.
That sample was probably the best I've heard, but I'm not into VH so that reverby distortion dosen't sway me very much. Is that not an easy effect to acheive otherwise?

You can turn the reverb off. The distortion and tone is what was impressive. I have used the pod on several occasions and liked it, but I have never heard it sound that good.Sloan said:

As far as tweaking the effects goes, how is that setup?
I'm not really looking for a particular sound as opposed to looking for a lot of sounds that I can change to suit my tastes...especially for studio use, being able to change little things can go a long way..
It would be really nice to hear some samples with drums and bass - like a real recording or something.
Also, does anyone here have the PODxt Live?
Or even the pedal for the POD?

As far as tweaking sounds on the Pod, you have 32 amps and a multitude of effects, cabs, mics, mic placement, etc. You can control EVERY parameter of almost everything. Think of it as you have every amp, effects pedal, speaker and mic at your disposal and you can set them up any way you want. That's what the Pod is like. You control it ALL!

I have found that less PRESENCE when using the Pod is the key to getting rid of the buzzy sound that comes from using digital. And it works. The Plexi Variac sound is proof!

There is a section in editing that allows you to assign different functions to the pedal such as wah, volume, mod (chorus, phaser, flanger, etc) mix speed depth, delay time, reverb mix.. etc
I own the XT Live right now and I do love it.. I have also owned the POD XT bean and what I liked most about that was how compact it was... I kinda rushed into buying the XT Live because it was all hyped-up, but I don't perform live for one, 2) it is a pain to tweak because you have to bend over a lot to do so, 3) it takes up a lot of space so if you use it with your computer you have to clear some desk space off...
Bottom line is that if you Jam out a lot with other people and like to switch channels on the fly then the XT Live is the way to go... If you just want the best modelling technology available with the ability to play it at bedroom volume levels through headphones and computer speakers then go with the XT bean... Line 6 is definitly at the head of class as far as modelling technology is concerned.... Die-hard tube advocates will always slam Line 6 and the POD because although true as it is that the feel and response of the POD is not exactly like a tube, but for $299 it is one sweet toy to play with...
I'm thinking that a new POD architecture won't be released until early 2006 at the earliest. The upgradeable properties of the current POD XT are what make it so awesome... It's rumored that the new POD will have capabilities similar to the Vetta in that it can emulate two amps at once to create a layered 'wall of sound' or something like that... Who knows.. Rumors are rumors... I think Line 6 is a safe bet in that they are looking out for us amateurs...

Can you hook up a pedal or something to the regular PODxt?
I've seen the Line6 foot switch but it's $270. Screw that!
I would be really interested if I could hook up some switches for on-the-fly switching and just an expression pedal. That would be nice.

I don't think you can hook up any other pedals to a POD. That's the crappy thing about Line 6....you gotta buy the floor board from them for live purposes. It ain't cheap either!

Actually I think that any midi enabled floor controller will work with the POD.
