POD XT won't record in HS2002

Look Mom, I can play!
Okay, I got the POD XT yesterday, plugged it in, awesome sounds:D But.....:(

I can't get it to record in HS2002. The POD is hooked up using the USB cable to keep the signal in the digital domain. (it does record okay with a line in but I want the digital input)

I go to Options>audio and select the POD as the recording and playback device, I then choose the POD in the recording input, arm the track...but it doesn't record.

I keep getting a message when opening HS 2002 saying that the POD drivers either don't support the format or are in use with another program. I then choose "Use anyway" but to no avail. I am using Win XP.

I have also gone to the windows control panel and selected all the POD drivers for recording and play back but still no joy. And yet I can hear other sounds through the POD out puts, like the windows start up wav file etc. So I know the USB signal path to POD does work.

Any suggestions?

What rev. is your POD software? What version of the audio drivers for the POD do you have?

If not the latest, update and re-test.

Q.

Have you tried forcing usage of MME-drivers?

First, the good news......MME works:D My drivers are 2.0.0.0 - latest version.

Bad news....the best playback I can get has a recording latency of 20msecs...absolutely useless:(

Looks like I will have to revert to good old D/A conversion...and back again

:(

Have you fiddled with the latency slider in the POD's control panel?

I use ASIO and can get 5msec easily on a p4 1.8 w/- 1G.

How did you can get ASIO to work? I have a Delta 66 +OMNI on a p4 2.4 daw.

Also, how do you get the POD panel to open? Where do I find it?

Thanks for your help:)

You should consider upgrading to HS2004. ASIO driver support is one of the changes from HS2002.

I knew there would be an upgrade in there somewhere, I just knew it!!!:D

Digital Village, here I come.

Does HS2004 do WDM? I think, (from memory -- not near my POD PC), that there were also configurable WDM drivers.

Q.

I have wdm on hs2002. Qwerty, I think you were looking at the Guitar port when you read off your latency settings? In which case, that only sets the latency for GP...not HS2002.

If POD does have wdm drivers, then that would be great. How do I configure them?

Hi Paul,

The MME, ASIO and WDM drivers are installed and enabled by default. You can modify the PODxt's latency by opening the PODxt Driver Console -- the slider bar.

When I set Sonar to WDM mode, the Line6 PODxt device appears under OPTIONS-AUDIO.

I am using USB v1.05 and driver version 2.0.0.48.

:) Q.

Hi Qwerty.

For some reason, WDM drivers won't work - the message comes up saying that they are incompatible or are being used by another program.

Where did you get the driver version from? I went on the Line 6 web site yesreday and could only find version 2.0.0.0?

I can get the POD XT driver to appear in all the Options>audio windows okay....its just that they only work when I get HS2002 to work in MME mode:(

It's the driver console that reports the 2.0.0.48 version - I just dl'ed it when I typed the msg.

I don't really know what else to try - I normally use ASIO with Sonar 3 PE.

Have you tried posting this over on the Line6 forum?
